Here are some of the pics from that visit.

One of the many beautiful Carriages

is getting stuck in Traffic like everyone else

The many Horses and Buggies were a treat to see. The people were wonderful and very friendly.

Sam Stolzfus, our driver with his team Solder and Sarge, what a nice man!
A drive through the country side with Solder and Sarg, Sam the driver and Gina was a high light of the trip.

The visit to the Amish Farm Beacon Hollow was although very interesting.
The Amish originated in the same area of Europe, that I am from. My Swiss geman language is very simmilar to the Amish Pennsilvania Dutch and I could understand and talk to them.
The founders Name "Ammann" is very common in my mothers home town.

A white man's journey through Native Land by Hal Jones

This week has been a blur, but we now see the end of the tunnel.
Yesterday we finished setting up the Show, "A white man's journey through Native Land". Hal Jones' telling the story of his collecting Canadian Native Art for the last 30 years, through his paintings.
It looks amazing, I just keep shutting my mouth as it keeps droping open.
As Hal painted the individual paintings, I had no idea, how interesting the whole show would look all together, definitely worth a look.
Tonight Sept 7th is the Opening reception at the
Chase Gallery
in the N.S. Archives Building
6016 University Avenue
from 7pm-9pm
I look forward to seeing you there.
The show will continue until Sept. 30th
Here is a little preview

just a few of the many, come and see.

Japanese Ship in the Halifax Harbor

What a sight!
On Wednesday Morning, I was just minding my own business, when I heard this great boom. Not once, not twice, but on and on.
Of course I went to look out my window, and there were three navy ships, a fire boat spewing water and smoke.
Well, the smoke did not come from a fire, but it was, what I later learned the cannon shots form the first of the three Japanese ships, saluting Halifax. At 8am!!
What a treat and here are the pictures I took.

As you can see, we are still in a gray on gray color scheme here in Halifax, fog, rain, fog. I guess we better embrace it, as we can't change it.
But remember to support the Buskers this week end. They have been putting on a show through out this and it is their livelihood.
See you at the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market Saturday and Sunday

The Buskers are here

Yes, this is the week of the buskers in Halifax.
The Halifax International Busker Festival is celebrating it's 25th anniversary this year and they put together a great show.
The weather has not been the most accommodating, but the acts are worth while, to contend with a bit of moisture.
To commemorate this event, Hal Jones has produced a series of  paintings. They are so much fun and whimsical and to the point.
Here are some of the images we reproduced into Limited edition prints and/or Cards. Matted up to 11"x14" they are $34.95, a great price for a Limited edition out of 99 (meaning only 99 prints were printed)

Summer In Halifax

Hello Everybody,
It is finally summer and I have been busy with visitors from Switzerland. We travelled the Cabot Trail, taken in the Canada Day celebrations at the Citadel, the Parade, the Multi Cultural Festival and of course the Pow Wow on the Commons. What a treat to meet up with many of our friends there. And what a treat to show our guests some of the different aspects of Canada. So it is not surprising, that I have been a bit slow in updating this Blog.
Yesterday we found one of our small native snakes, a Northern Ringneck Snake. A quick little bugger, but so beautiful here is a picture.
